Quentin Mix reported seeing a male Cardinal in the vicinity of 41 St. & 106B Ave. on Dec.06,2011.  In speaking this afternoon with the observer the ID appears correct & the bird was back at the feeders today.  Over the years Cardinals have been seen in the Gold Bar area as well as along Ada Blvd. across the river.  The breeding pair are still in Sh. Park as of beginning of Dec.  Cardinal sightings in Alberta are few & widely scattered.  Some of the Sightings over the last 5 years include Fort Saskatchewan, Red Deer, Devon, Fort McMurray.   Maybe it wll stay for the Xmas Count on Dec.18.
Marc Demers sighted a Rough-legged Hawk at Terwilligar Park on Dec. 04.
