A male Cardinal was reported on Friday Jan.7 coming to a feeder on an acreage just south of Wye Rd & Hwy 216 where the overpass is located.  It is most likely one of the birds from the nest in Sherwood Park this summer, however this is just a guess!  The Green-wing Teal (male) is stil being reported from Gold Bar at the Waste Water Treatment outflow.
In other news, an immature Northern Goshawk is now on territory around the Gov't Grain Terminal located at 131 St. & Yellowhead Tr.  The bird is trying to hunt pigeons there but is regularly intercepted by the many Ravens in the area.  They don't want the Goshawk anywhere in the area & regulary chase it out to the NW towards Dunvagen.  The timing is as early as 9:00 AM & until 4:00 PM.  The best location to watch for it is along 128 Ave. next to the open park along the north side of the Bldg.
Who know's one might even get lucky & see a kill as this is not the first time a Goshawk has hunted here in winter.

Good Birding!
