On Oct.27, 2011 Arlene Miller photographed a flock of up to (15) Gray-crowned Rosy Finches on the gravel parking lot at Astotin Lake in Elk Island National Park.  They are a bird of the alpine areas of the Rockies & come down to lower elevations in winter.  On occasion they wander far to the east having been recorded from Brooks & Medicine Hat.  Several years back the mountain towns of Jasper, Banff & Canmore were overun with them at feeders.
Another interesting sighting of late was an imm. Sabine's Gull photographed at Hawrelak Park on Oct. 22 by Doug & Jean (regular customers at Wildbird General Store).  Mike Blom sighted a gray morph Gyrfalcon at Judd hill in Peace River Oct.29.
