Fred Whiley was out birding on Xmas day to the northwest of the city and was fortunate to see a Gyrfalcon at the Vimy turnoff on Hwy 2.  He indicated it was a bird that looked very much like a Peregrine!   Maybe the same bird which was photographed Dec.23 in the Grimshaw area by Linda Frey.

Two other interesting birds were sighted today, Dec.26, by Martin Sharpe in the same general area.  The first was a imm. Golden Eagle on Rge. Rd. 261 near Viileneuve Rd. west of St. Albert.  The other sighting was a Short-eared Owl hunting over Egg L. (Manawan L.).
