The Gyrfalcon is once again hunting pigeons at the Grain Terminal on Yellowhead Tr. (although I am not certain it ever left, just have not been watching at the right time.  On Sunday, Jan. 24 it was seen aggressively chasing the pigeons for several minutes around noon before flying off.  Today, Mon. Jan. 25 it came in from the east at 12:50 and was soaring high over the bldg. causing the pigeons to circle in a tight towering bundle.  This is always the clue that a raptor is either approaching or is already on scene.  There is also a Merlin now regularly harassing them as well so look closely as it is difficult to pick out amongst the wheeling masses.

Access is off Yellowhead Tr. onto the service road just west of 127 St. if one is heading west on the Yellowhead.  From the west, exit onto St. Albert Trail northbound & turn right onto the service road by the Hughes Car Wash.  For those coming from the north on St. Albert Tr. turn left at the lights in the bottom of the underpass & follow the service road around behind the Hughes.
