Today, just after noon a Gyrfalcon was obseved soaring back & forth along the west face of the Gov't Terminal. The pigeons were not impressed with its presence, however the Gyralcon seemed more intent on just playing on the updrafts off the bldg. than chasing pigeons. It was observed briefly at the same location around 11:15 AM on Dec.17. Alan Hingston reported seeing likely the same bird yesterday along Campbell Rd. in St. Albert where it was sitting on a utility pole. On Dec. 19, an adult Bald Eagle was observed sitting in a tree along Hwy 769 at Neerlandia while a Hawk Owl was seen sitting on a pole at the jnct. of Sec. 663 & 801. A Snowy Owl has set up winter territory at 41Ave SW & 156 St. south of the Windermere Golf Course. Del Huget has seen it on several occasions & it was there again mid-week.
