Lots of activity — on or over the lake: Canada geese, a variety of gulls, a couple of flocks of tundra swan, a small flock of white-fronted geese, a few mallards, many crows, a couple of ravens, and a bald eagle on the lake's ice this morning. We also saw a northern harrier flying low over farm fields to the west end of the lake (RR 210a)
In the backyard: the usual chickadees, white-breasted nuthatches, blue jays, downy and hairy woodpeckers, and house sparrows; new arrivals — a robin, starlings, chipping sparrow. The backyard was also visited by crows and magpies, which don't usually venture into the yard.
Coyote and beaver sightings on the island across from our deck, too.
