Hastings Lake, May 13 — Purple martins at our Hastings Lake place, with lots of interest in the martin house that we have up.  We didn't see any on the 11th; neighbour reports seeing 100 or more in the trees in our front yard on the 12th

Think the webcam idea is great.  It is quite blurry when I view it online but, I'm thinking today there are rain droplets on it. sf cry Northern Alberta Birding Hotline

Camera blurriness is an issue sometimes.  The camera isn't the best choice for the outdoor shots; it has trouble adapting to different light levels (e.g. bright sun on the lake in the morning, but shadow in the back yard), and is more blurry in the summer because of the angle of the light.  I find that picture quality is better in the winter.

Nonetheless, we enjoy using it to watch the garden or the feeders when we aren't there!  I might explore some alternative setup this fall to see if the experience will improve.
