The birds I saw today were 10 mallards,1 pair of greater scaups,4 red necked grebes,3 redheads, 2 canvasbacks,7 canadian geese,4 buffleheads,1 ruddy duck,11 american coots,1 red tailed hawk,20+franklins gulls,12ring billed gulls,1northern flicker,1 downy woodpecker,2 blue jays,2 black billed magpies,5 american crows,8 tree swallows,3 black capped chickadees,1 white breasted nutatch,2 ruby crowned  kinglets,7 american robins,1 indigo bunting,3 clay colored sparrows,2 song sparrows,5 red winged blackbirds, 1 yellow headed blackbird,3 house finches.

i first heard the indigo bunting in this patch of trees beside a road and then I saw but I could't tell what it was so I took note of it's slightly forked tail and size of bill and when I got home I check it out on my ipod and the song and description fit the bird.sf smile Northern Alberta Birding Hotline
