A Sharp-shinned Hawk is reaking havok at my feeders over the last few weeks. He has become a regular visitor too. Last weekend we saw the bird perched within a chokecherry tree amongst a couple waxwings. One of them finally decided to bolt and the hawk spun upside down and made a one legged grab for it but missed. He was back today and we were able to snap a few more photos of it.
It is an unusal looking bird as it has some fairly large white marks on its back like no other Sharp-shinned Hawk I have seen.
