Heading up RR 205, just south of Wye Road, we saw a small flock of starlings this morning. First I've seen in the area in a while, but they might have over wintered.
At Hastings Lake, more of the same at the feeders: redpolls, black capped chickadees, blue jays, house sparrows, downy and hairy woodpeckers, northern flicker, white-breasted nuthatch. A crow inspected the goings on this morning, but did not go to the feeders. Squirrel activity is definitely on the rise too. There was a huge coyote commotion in the middle of the night somewhere nearby.
Addendum: Had a chat with a Hastings Lake neighbour, who was out snowmobiling on the lake this weekend. On both Saturday and Sunday he saw a small number of Canada geese on the lake.
