Hawk Owl sightings continue to increase in the Edmonton region.  Del Huget has been watching one over the past week at the west end of South Cooking L. by the airport.  On Nov.21, Bill Benford sighted one west of Hwy 43 at Rge Rd 31 & Sec.633, Don Delaney sighted another on Rge Rd 275 north of Twp Rd 554 (n. of Calahoo).  Donna Bamber sighted one Nov.25, west of Stony Plain on Rge Rd 14 s. of Sec.628.  Several Rough-legged Hawks along with Northern Harriers were still in the Grande Prairie area last week as reported by Syl Bourdages.  He also reported a Gyfalcon at Grande Prairie on Nov. 25.
Snowy Owls are being reported widely from the Edmonton areas as well as southern Alberta from Calgary & areas to the southeast.  Maybe it will be a good winter for sighting them north of Edmonton.
Fred Whiley was treated to the sighting of a Gray-crowned Rosy Finch at his feeder at 91 St. & 124 Ave. in Edmonton on Nov.22.  A Lesser Scaup was observed flying over Hawrelak Park on Nov. 19 by members of the Edmonton Nature Club during a field trip.
Don Delaney located a Townsend's Solitaire aalong the trail between Emily Murphy & Hawrelak Parks Nov. 26.
Looks like some great birding for late Nov. Hope it continues !

Jim
