Ted Hindmarch sighted an imm. Golden Eagle over the Edmonton Garrison at Namao on April 13. Peregrine Falcons (2) were seen at the Inland Cement Plant in west Edmonton by Fred Whiley April 16. A report of 200 Evening Grosbeaks at Cold L. reported April 16 by Carol Hummerstone is of great interest as they are very seldom seen here anymore. I observed a female Spruce Grouse and 3 Common Mergansers at Cross L. on April 16. Snow Geese (1000+) & Sandhill Cranes (40+) were at Lyseng Reservouir (just off Hwy 21 at Armena) reported by Ken Hansen April 17. Also at the same location on April 17, Fred Whiley found a Eurasian Wigeon. Another one was sighted on either Cooking L. or Hastings L. on the ENC field trip April 18. The following birds were also reported on the 18th. Michael Dawson sighted a Great Blue Heron at Hastings, Ed Mah-Lim reported both Eastern Phoebe & Mourning Dove in Elk Island Park, a Coot was seen with the Tundra Swans at Holden, Curtis Manly reports Swainson's Hawk from Spruce Grove, American Avocet seen at Akasu L. east of Vegreville, Yellow-rump Warbler & numerous Fox Sparrows reported from Fort McMurray by Simone Marler.
* non bird sighting: The Green Coma butteflies were everywhere in Cross L. Prov. Park on April 16.
